Which TV technology is the best? What is the best LCD TV? What screen size is the best for your living space? What is the difference between LED and LCD TVs?
Sometimes the answers may not be obvious. Even for tech-savvy people, buying a TV can be stressful. There are so many brands to choose from, so many options, screen sizes, colors and technologies.Which one is best for you, your family, and your living area? This guide will walk you through the process of buying a smart TV.

How to select the right TV

There are many factors that you should consider when choosing the best TV for you. These include screen size and resolution as well as the smart features and ports available on the model. Most homes should choose a 55-inch or 65-inch TV with 4K resolution. Smart TVs are also a favorite of ours. They allow you to stream your favorite shows and access dozens of apps from one device.

You can find extensive shopping advice in our TV buying guides and determine which size TV to buy. You can also find all the information you need on smart TV features and capabilities.

Performance –  Our TV reviews also examine key areas like sound quality, picture quality, and other features. Make sure you look up the model that interests you to view our TV reviews.

Ports – We recommend that you choose more ports so that you don’t have to unplug and reconnect HDMI cables every time you want to switch between your Bl-ray player and your gaming console. While three ports are common, TVs with better quality will have four HDMI ports. It is important to make sure that at least one port is HDMI 2.0. Our guide to the best HDMI 2.0 TVs can help you with this. (Still confused? TV ports explained – What are all the HDMI, USB and other connections for? Additional USB ports can be used to power antenna amplifiers and streaming sticks as well as view media from USB storage.

HDR – Most TVs support high dynamic range (HDR), with Dolby Vision the best format and HDR10 being the most basic. The backlight is even more important, with OLED TVs offering HDR10 support and LED sets with local dimming providing the best HDR capabilities.

Smart software – The TVs listed here are some of the most compatible Alexa devices and top Google Home compatible devices. Before you make your decision, be sure to check which smart home platform they offer.

Price – You can find smaller 4K TVs for as low as $500. This will allow you to save some money on some of the best soundbars and best streaming devices that go with your TV. You will need to spend more for HDR support and decent numbers of HDMI ports. You’ll typically pay $500 for a 55-inch 4K TV at a lower price and $900 for a 65 inch model. Although premium 4K TVs are available for sale for thousands of dollars (or more), we believe that the price point for the best value and performance is around $2,000 8K TVs on the other hand are expensive and can be difficult to afford. However, newer models sell for as low as $3,000 but go up to the tens of thousands. You can see the complete list of 8K and 4K TVs from all major manufacturers to get a better idea of what the best TV brands have to offer.

    How to test TVs

It’s more than watching a movie. Every TV  is subject to lab testing. We measure color gamut, brightness, and color accuracy in order to determine which sets are best for these key indicators. We also measure lag time, which is a crucial detail in gaming. It measures how long it takes for the content to reach the screen from its source. These results are used to compare color and display quality using numbers. Each set is also evaluated in real-world situations. We can see how lab results translate to subjective performance. We compare the sets and also view sample content from recent movies and test patterns to highlight strengths and weaknesses. We can then tell you which TVs are the best looking, sounding best, and provide the best viewing experience. We then evaluate the apps and functions of each smart TV. This includes everything from the remote control design, to voice interaction.

    FAQs

Prices can vary depending on the size and features. A basic 24-inch TV costs less than $100, while a large OLED model costs more than $2,000! Televisions are durable and can last for a very long time. However, we believe it is worth spending a bit more to get a larger screen, better picture quality, or better features. Here are some estimates of the cost to get a high-quality TV by mid-2022.

    • 55-inch: $700
    • 66-inch: $1,000
    • 75-inch: $1,300

You can pay more or less. A majority of TVs will produce decent quality pictures that satisfy most viewers. The majority of complaints in user reviews don’t concern picture quality. They’re more about ease of use, smart TV menus and sound (or broken TVs).

We believe that larger screens are better than smaller ones. This is why we recommend spending more money on larger screen sizes and a greater image quality. The answer depends on the size of your room and how far you sit . If you have a large room and are seated further away, you will need a larger TV.

OLED TVs which use organic light emitting diode technology have shown better picture quality than LCD TVs which use LED backlights. The reason for this is that OLED televisions can produce a dark shade of black without any stray lighting blooming. This creates better contrast and pop. OLED TVs are usually less expensive than LED TVs, but they can be brighter.

Despite its simplicity, different systems such as Google TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung have different strengths, especially for voice commands. We don’t think the smart TV system is that important. You can still connect any streaming device to any TV.

Many TVs have terrible sound quality due to their small cabinets that don’t allow for adequate-sized speakers and bass. An external audio system is necessary to achieve good sound quality. A soundbar with a low price will provide better audio quality than TV’s built in speakers.
